“As a first-generation player from a place where little polo is played, I feel very lucky to be a part of the Virginia Polo Team. As I have yet to own a polo farm or ponies, our student-run program gives me a sense of awesome responsibility in caring for our horses. This makes practicing and playing them feel all the more rewarding.”
Virginia Polo Alumni Stevie and Robert Orthwein Expand Polo in South Florida
Polo continues to flourish in south Florida, and the Port Mayaca Polo Club based in Martin County, just northwest of Palm Beach, remains a great example of that.
Thank you, Jess!

Congratulations to Maria Curtichs Blasco, Maddie Briggs, Jack Dunlap, Bill Igou, Julia Payne, and Madeleine Wallach from the Club team; Antonio Mendes de Almeida from Men's Varsity; and Demitra Hajimihalis from Women's Varsity!

Cancellation of the National Intercollegiate Championships
Dear friends of Virginia Polo,
It is with regret that we announce the cancellation of the National Intercollegiate Championships and all other events scheduled to take place during the week of March 30th through April 5th. While we're sure this won't come as a surprise due to growing health concerns surrounding the coronavirus outbreak, we're sorry to say that the USPA has made the difficult decision to suspend all remaining Intercollegiate/Interscholastic tournaments for the academic year.
